Fitment & compatibility

Will a Tintic kit fit my bike?

If your bike runs a WP Xplor, WP Xplor CC, WP Xact, KYB SSS, or Showa cartridge fork, almost certainly yes. Type your year, make, and model into the compatibility finder and it will point you at the right kit. If your bike isn't listed, get in touch and we'll figure it out together.

Do I need one kit or two for my bike?

One pair does the full bike. Every kit except the Xact ships as a pair, one valve per fork leg, because both legs need to be valved to keep the chassis balanced. The WP Xact air fork is the exception: it carries all its damping in one leg, so those bikes take a single valve, and we sell it that way.

What's the difference between the WP Xplor and WP CC Xplor/Xact kits?

Model year and cartridge type. 2024 and newer WP closed-cartridge forks, both Xplor CC and Xact CC, take the WP CC kit. Older open-cartridge Xplor forks take the WP Xplor kit. The compatibility finder sorts this out for you if you enter your bike.

My bike isn't in the compatibility finder. Now what?

Tell us what you ride. We add platforms based on demand, and knowing what riders want is how we decide what to build next. Send it through the contact page or email hello@tintic.works and we'll let you know if a kit exists, is coming, or can work with what you have.

Product & performance

What does a cone valve actually do?

It replaces the flat shim stack in your fork's mid-valve with a machined cone and spring. The result is damping that stays firm and controlled in the normal stroke but opens wide on sharp impacts, so you get holdup where you want it and plushness where square-edge hits used to deflect you.

Is this the same as getting my fork revalved?

No, it's a hardware upgrade a revalve can't reach. A revalve rearranges shims on the stock architecture. The cone valve replaces that architecture, and your tuner sets it up for your weight and riding during install. Many riders do both at once since the fork is already open.

Will I feel the difference?

That's the point of the product, and it's most obvious on sharp, square-edged hits and braking chop. We build these because we ride, and we stand behind them with a lifetime warranty and a 30-day return window on unopened kits.

Installation

Can I install it myself?

We recommend a qualified suspension tuner. Installation replaces the mid-valve and requires opening the cartridge, setting the shim stack, and fresh oil. A tuner with the right tools does it cleanly in about 90 minutes. Without those tools and that experience, you can damage parts that are expensive to replace.

How long does installation take?

About 90 minutes for a qualified tuner, typically done as part of a normal fork service since the fork is already open and the oil gets replaced anyway. The install guide covers the full procedure.

Will my tuner know how to install it?

Yes. The install walkthrough covers the full procedure, and any tuner comfortable servicing cartridge forks will find it familiar. If your tuner has questions, put them in touch with us. We're a small US-based team, and the people who build these are easy to reach.

Do you have detailed specs, torque values, or oil recommendations published?

Not on the site yet. The install walkthrough covers the procedure, and if you or your tuner need anything beyond it, contact us or email hello@tintic.works and we'll get you an answer directly.

Ordering & shipping

How fast do orders ship?

In-stock kits ship within 48 hours of your order, from our shop in Pleasant Grove, Utah. You'll get a confirmation when you order and tracking when it ships.

What does shipping cost?

Flat $11 anywhere in the US, any order size.

Do you ship internationally?

Not routinely yet, but we want to hear from you. If you're outside the US, send us a note with your location through the contact page. Knowing where riders want kits shipped is how we'll decide where to expand.

How do I track my order?

You'll get a tracking email the moment it ships. You can also sign in any time to see your orders and shipping status. We create an account for you at checkout, no password, just a sign-in link to your email.

Can I change or cancel my order?

Email us right away at hello@tintic.works. We ship fast, so the window is short, but if it hasn't left the building we'll fix it. If it has, the 30-day return policy has you covered.

What payment methods do you accept?

All major credit and debit cards, plus Apple Pay and Google Pay, through Stripe's secure checkout.

Returns & warranty

What's the return policy?

Unopened kits can be returned within 30 days of delivery. Email us, we'll send the return address, and once the kit is back and verified unopened we refund your original payment method, usually within 5 business days of arrival. Customer pays return shipping. Full details on the refund policy page.

What if my kit arrives damaged or defective?

Contact us right away. That's not a return, that's our problem. We cover the return shipping and send a replacement at our cost.

What's the warranty?

Lifetime on every part we machine, two years on springs, and technical support for as long as the bike is in service. If something fails, contact us and we'll diagnose it and make it right. Details on the warranty page.

Does the warranty transfer if I sell my bike?

Yes. The warranty follows the kit, not the buyer. No paperwork, just have the new owner mention the bike's history when they reach out.

Dealers & the company

I run a shop or tune suspension. Can I carry Tintic?

Yes, we have a dealer program with real margins and direct support. Apply through the dealers page and we'll take a look, and ask us about trying samples before you commit.

Can I buy through a local dealer instead?

Absolutely. Our dealer directory lists shops that carry and install Tintic kits, and that list is growing.

Who is Tintic Works?

A small machine shop in Pleasant Grove, Utah, run by people who ride. We design, machine, and ship everything ourselves, and we keep the team small and reachable on purpose. Support is US-based, and when you reach out you're talking to the team that builds the product. More on the about page.

Tintic Reds ABV (coming soon)

What is the Tintic Reds ABV?

An adjustable base valve for your fork: rider-adjustable high-speed and low-speed compression, adjustable by hand at the top of the fork, no tools. Stiffen or soften the entire compression range to match the track, the discipline, or how your arms feel two hours in.

Which bikes will the ABV fit?

At launch, 2024 and newer WP closed-cartridge forks, both Xplor CC and Xact. More platforms are under evaluation.

When can I get an ABV, and what will it cost?

We're targeting fall 2026 and finalizing pricing now. Join the waitlist and you'll be the first to know both.

Does the ABV replace the cone valve or work with it?

They're partners, not rivals. The cone valve sets the fork's damping character; the ABV moves that whole range up or down to match conditions. Run either alone or both together. Full details at launch.

Will I be able to install the ABV myself?

Yes, that's part of the design. ABV installation is dramatically simpler than a mid-valve install, no cartridge disassembly, DIY-friendly. Full instructions ship with the product.
